Wine and Music on a Sunday Afternoon

If you are feeling the fast pace of summer, its about time to unwind with a glass of your favorite summer wine, while enjoying live music in the background, and a gorgeous sight of green summer grass and a beautiful lake view from the upper deck of a winery barn.

Winery in the countryside

We have selected a winery known for its beautiful barn and scenic view, besides having won the 2017 Virginia's Governor's cup for their Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards situated in the quaint town of Hamilton, Virginia offers a getaway from busy schedules and the hustle and bustle of a city life. Ten breathtaking acres surround a beautifully restored hundred-year-old stone and wood dairy barn, which has been transformed into a unique tasting room.

You can bring your own picnic to the winery which also offers a light fare of meats, cheeses, spreads, warm baguettes and crackers.

The wine maker Michael Shaps is known for creating wine in the traditional, old-world style. He strongly believes in choosing grape varieties that represent the potential of Virginia viticulture. The white wines focus on varietal intensity and the retention of natural acidity while some of the reds are crafted to be age worthy and require cellaring.

The winery has live music on Sunday afternoon which we will enjoy with our wine picnic in the barn.

We may also optionally visit another nearby winery—8 Chains North a small farm winery, known for its old-world-style handcrafted wines.
