Our exploration of some of the scenic wineries around the Maryland and Virginia countryside continues, and so for our next exploration we have selected two wineries with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge and Catoctin Mountains.

Our Saturday afternoon exploration will entail a visit to two wineries in Purcellville Virginia less than an hour drive from Washington DC.

The Wine Reserve At Waterford

We will start our Saturday afternoon at the Wine Reserve At Waterford nestled amid sweeping views of the Blue Ridge and Catoctin Mountains.

The varietals planted at the vineyard and sourced from other neighboring Loudoun growers, include Chardonnay, Marlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the wines produced include different blends from these varietals.

The wine tasting is complemented by a rotating lineup of featured small-production Virginia wineries.

Wine Reserve At Waterford tasting room

We will explore their different wines and enjoy a glass or two in the beautiful surrounding.

The winery kitchen offers light fare to complement the wines which includes cheeses, meats, spreads, breads and you can also bring your own food pairing to the winery.

Bozzo Family Vineyards

This is a new vineyard in the Purcellville area which offers red, rose, and white wines produced from vinifera grapes grown on their own and leased Loudoun County vineyards.

The vineyard grows varieties of wine grapes common in Bordeaux, Burgundy, and the Rhone, which include Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot
